When my 8-year-old daughter asked me if she is “beautiful”, it left me wondering if I want her to live with the same narrative, that defined the concept of beauty for me as a child. Or do I instead want her to be able to grow beyond these constructs? Define her own version of beauty, or perhaps just discard that notion in entirety. Move beyond binaries. Change the course of dialogue. Work towards expansion of humanity and truly become part of a world without exceptions. And that is the reason why I started this photo essay - "changing the conversation".
