According to the figures from Public Health and Care, in 2019 an estimated 457,800 people were being treated by their GP for an anxiety disorder: 151,600 men and 306,200 women (annual prevalence). This corresponds to 17.6 per 1,000 men and 35.1 per 1,000 women. Anxiety disorders are more common in women than in men in every age group.
