Estonian conductor Risto Joost in live action during a concert with the Wuppertal Symphony in the amazing "Historische Stadthalle" of Wuppertal, the city's concert hall. I had the privilege to be seated on stage right in the middle of the orchestra, between the woodwind section and the strings, in order to obtain these performance shots. Available light photography. Commissioned work. To complete the series, I shot some portraits of Risto backstage, in his dressing room, photojournalistic style.

Born and raised in Berlin. Studied law in Berlin, timpani and percussion in Essen, Copenhagen and Duesseldorf. Professional timpanist and percussionist, permanent member of the Wuppertal Symphony. Took up photography in 2007 while on tour with the orchestra, hooked ever since. Main photographic subjects include people, nude, architecture and landscape photography. Avid traveller and travel photographer.
