All insect-eating flies have stout, spiny legs, thick beard-like manes on their faces, and two large compound eyes with three single eyes between them. When hunting, they use their strong legs to grab prey, then use their sharp short beaks to pierce the prey, inject saliva containing toxic and proteolytic enzymes, and then suck the prey's body fluids. The detailed process of insectivorous flies' feeding is completely presented through photo records.
