A friend of mine lives on 12 acres of wooded property in Prospect, KY, USA. Her land is home to a vast variety of trees, including black walnut trees. These massively tall, beautiful trees produce bushels upon bushels of walnuts. Every summer, I stay at her house for several days, and we walk her property with bushel baskets on our backs. We gather the fallen walnuts and carry them to her house for processing. They're as big as tennis balls and have been known to crack windshields when falling. Their wonderful flavor is totally worth the risk of getting a concussion via gravity plus a walnut.
