The sport of pitting game cocks portrays an ancient spectator sport practiced since ages. It's often listed with cultural and religious relevance as reasons for perpetuation of cockfighting as a sport. People from far and wide come to celebrate and bet for their winning cocks. These cocks are specially bred and conditioned for increased stamina and strength. They fight against one another, each battling with a blade attached to their feet; It lasts for a few minutes until one of them succumbs to the injury. The winning cock gets cash award, and the dead cock are distributed amongst the poor.

Debasish an Information Technology professional, has been working on various projects covering Environmental, Culture, Travel and Long-Term Projects since 2007. He was awarded internationally for many of his projects. His much-noted work on Bellandur lake pollution at Bangalore received international exposure on the worldwide press: Notably by BBC, The Guardian. Some of his works were published by Lens Magazine, National Geographic books and National Geographic Travel Magazine (India).
