The motif is the birth of Venus in Western paintings, arranged in a Japanese style. Influenced by Japanese Aminism, I created this work with the idea that a deity may dwell in the kimono as well. This was not considered a good idea because it would damage the fabric, but she wet her kimono with water to obtain a unique luster and expression. Also, since water has been used as a sacred and purifying substance in Japan since ancient times, we decided that it was best suited for expression as a sacred object.
