Shutters Telling Stories

This is a view of a residential island in Le Havre. These buildings were built after the Second World War in a standard grid of prefabricated components. Building material was scarce. In contrast to the concrete that is usually used, these buildings form colourful residential islands between the otherwise grey concrete buildings. The yellow shutters show that the flats are being used.

Johanna Hurter is a fine art and panorama photographer who wants to make the interactions between nature and man visible with her images. She uses photographic techniques, long term exposure, panorama technique and others, to interpret her subject. Nature, wind and weather help shape the images. Her images were awarded in international competitions.
