Metagraph: Rendered Artifacts Of Digital Noise - The Record The Energetic Thumbprint Of Our Universe
  • Photo Date
    2023

I unite two visual languages to express my belief that our perception of duality is inaccurate using Metagraphs of bodies combined with overlays of geometric patterns from cultures that use geometry as a visual language to express the ineffable. I call my work Metagraphs because, like a photograph, which is a recording of visible light, my work is a recording of all the energy a sensor sees. The images are thus transformed into a kind of hyper-vision showing aspects of reality we do not see, metaphorically and literally. They reveal the unseen energetic thumbprint of the universe we inhabit.

Sol Hill’s parents opened the first contemporary art gallery in Santa Fe. His early memories were of his parents in their studios and Hill’s Gallery. The mysterious objects that pervaded these places intrigued him. He felt like he was observing some secret alchemical language that he wanted to learn. He studied international politics college, but returned to the arts after an intense medical crisis. He earned an MFA in photographic art at Brooks Institute and has been working full time as an artist since 2010, still seeking to decipher that alchemical language, or at least to invent his own.
