This is a photographic project that grew out of my desire to understand what it means to be a female artist in today's world. At the start of it I wanted to make sense of the hardships that I faced personally. But as the project grew, I realized a lot of artists must deal with the same issues. The project became a personal universal of sharable experience. The pigment transfer technique is symbolic of this universality and yet each impression of the original image is one of a kind. The problems we encounter are universal, but the solutions are always unique as the persons that find them.

Natalia Rudychev is a Russian-born curator and photographic artist working on experimental photography projects in the United States and France.
