The series (featuring the incredible model Silvija Anna) is about the beauty of solitude and is inspired by the fin de siècle Japonism movement. It was shot on the banks of the Seine River in Paris, just under the Pont du Carrousel. By pure luck, a couple of swans showed up and whenever possible I tried to include them. In a few of the shots the roof of the Gare d'Orsay is visible, which is housing an impressive collection of impressionist artworks, of which many are strongly influenced by Japonism. I created the series with a multi-layered approach for the spectator to discover ;-)

I'm a photographer with a focus on portrait, street, and fine-art photography, and photography is my way of dealing with the world, people, stories, places, experiences. Photography is a therapeutic activity for me in a way, a survival strategy. I use light and shadow to capture what I feel, rather than what I see, and what I feel always takes precedence over what I see in what I do. I'm intrigued by the beauty of solitude, of people and places and in my work, this theme plays a dominant role.
