The photographs were influenced by religious paintings that mix Eastern and Western religious views. While using Japanese kimono obis, the models were a mix of Japanese and European models. Water was used for the representation because in Japan there is a ritual of purifying oneself with water when entering a sacred place, and this is the same ritual in Christian baptism.
