"But tell me, why women don't have the same rights as men?" Maria, Feb.25-1929 The systematic repetition of similar moments found in a series of images from the decades of the Portuguese Dictatorship (Estado Novo) led me to question the pressure of stereotypes built up in society, especially on women. Is it possible to deviate from the imposed standards, which are so rigid? How did the "Life-Type" condition so many futures? "Before 7 ½" seeks to counter, from the outset, the simplistic and reductive perception of the female social world to which stereotypes have sought to lead.
