From a young age, when I felt the limitations of raised walls, I have felt an intrinsic desire for infinite spaciousness, timelessness and a sense of freedom. I give shape to the origin of that desire in AEON. AEON creates a sensory suggestion of spaciousness and infinite possibilities. There is more than just what meets the eye in the image. Behind the space in the photo lies a whole world. Light and color guide the viewer, dissolving physical boundaries and making space, time, and light relative. The walls from my youth are still being broken down.

Annet Neijmeijer is a contemporary fine art photographer and visual artist. She graduated cum laude from the Photo Academy with her multimedia installation AEON. In her work, she explores concepts of space, time and light. Annet’s research into these elements and their interplay leads to photographs where the boundaries between reality and imagination and between the finite and the infinite blur. They are created illusions of enclosed spaces and boundless landscapes, of environments where linear constraints dissolve and where light seeps through the cracks.
