This work is themed around the anticipation and awe of the natural blessing of rain. Rain, indispensable to our lives, falls as the rainy season in Japan where I live, accompanying the blooming of hydrangeas. By shaping the hydrangea flowers to resemble droplets of water and covering the woman's mouth to emphasize her eyes, I have expressed the expectation and reverence for the rainy season that arrives at a fixed time each year. Also, by covering the mouth, I conveyed the quiet tension before the rainfall. Holding the camera overhead and shooting from a bird's-eye view allows the catchlights
