The restaurant was closed when I looked through its window from the sidewalk. The arrangement of empty tables and overhead pipes was interesting, though, and I got out my camera and snapped. Later, when I looked at the photo on my computer screen, I noticed a ghostly presence in the upper left corner. My reflection through the glass window.

I am a native New Yorker, an audio editor, and the author of three non-fiction books, one of which, The Cowboy Catalog, became a best-seller. I have a degree in French Literature and Journalism from New York University, but my greatest teacher has been New York City itself. Exiled now to Washington, DC, my mind and heart still run on New York time. That means I love drama, action, noise, the off-beat and outspoken, the theatre of the street.
