The winters of Hokkaido are renowned for their minimalistic beauty and attract photographers from around the world. The lush landscapes of summer and autumn, give way to the simplistic and minimalistic vignettes in winter. It is this time of year, that I turn to haiku as an inspiration when creating compelling images. I want a viewer to be absorbed into the scenes I photograph and by enacting their own imaginations. The less I show, the more they can imagine and create.
