Sometimes a small town is remembered more vividly than a world-famous metropolis. In China, the city of Yangshuo, a small ancient village located 70 km from Guilin, has become such a rare pearl. The name Yangshuo (阳朔) is translated from Chinese as “bright moon”. The village is located on the picturesque banks of the Lijiang River in the thick of the legendary Chinese karst hills. The city is simply created from myths and miracles and I, of course, also succumbed to its charm and started a spontaneous shoot with the found beauty Wang Xue-Yi.
Photography is usually considered as a way to convey reality but staged photography tells us a different truth. It is the courage to find your point of view on familiar things and to create worlds that momentarily flash with inner magic and tell us their stories. Photography is a bit like cooking: you take ingredients and mix them - color, characters, props, surroundings - and you get a new world with inner strength and secret life.
