The images presented here are influenced by surrealism and embrace artificial intelligence to expand the pictorial plasticity of my decades of still life archives. Inspired by 17th Century Dutch still life painting and the Victorian practice of post-mortem photography. The original photographic compositions are a conduit for the history of art and photography projected into the future and revisited with contemporary technology. The original flora and fauna was collected in my Brooklyn neighborhood surrounding the Gowanus Canal which was once one of the most contaminated waterways in the US.
"My fine art practice, influenced by surrealism, conceptual art and psychoanalysis is based on a lifelong respect and passion for photography. Now, I train AI models exclusively on my photographic archives to push the limits of pictorial plasticity while continuing my traditional digital photography practice simultaneously. I brought back a renewed sense of adventure to my 35mm digital photography.
