The subjects of this work are familiar yet elusive. Rather than present a complete image, I present the viewer with the form of a landscape and invite them to compose the rest of the image themselves. The viewer must physically and psychologically engage with the work—spending time to compose the rest of the image themselves, filling in the blanks, and inventing stories within the work. Each viewer then comes away with an image in their mind’s eye based partly in reality and partly their own making.
