The debate on photography and truth has always been central, especially today as A.I. creates images detached from physical reality. To address photographic authenticity, Francesca Cao returns to the physical medium, using an old analog camera and overlaying multiple frames, embracing a mistake making it a method, as a counter to digital perfection. This approach highlights how errors can lead to innovation, reflecting the resilience and creativity inherent in human nature. It moves away from strict rationality to explore unpredictable human emotions and infinite possibilities.

After graduating in Philosophy, Francesca moved to New York to attend the International Center of Photography, graduating in 2007. She works as a freelance photographer for publications such as The New York Times, Il Corriere della Sera, Wired, and Marie Claire. Her personal work explores innovative ways of storytelling to emotionally engage viewers. She has been a finalist for prestigious awards like the Inge Morath Award and the Unseen Dummy Award. In 2020 she publishes the book Temporary Life and her project On Becoming A Wolf received an honorable mention at Monovisions Award in 2023
