PROTESTS: A Tale of Two Paths The demonstrations in 2023 against the French government raising the pension age has been described as the strongest social movement in France for 50 years. Weekly demonstrations over months drew, on average, one million or more protestors on each occasion. One path witnessed fury and violence. Fifty metres away, along a parallel path, we see laughter, song and dance. Both manifestations are par for the course in France.

Born in Singapore and based in Paris, CHIA Ming Chien specialises in Character Portraiture, Architecture, and Fine Art photography. His photographs have been exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, London, the ArtScience Museum Singapore, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, VIVID Sydney, and other venues. His work has been published in books and international publications including National Geographic magazine.
