Compassionate Ghost King : Da Shi Ye

As times have changed, many customs associated with the Hungry Ghost Festival have gradually disappeared. However, in Penang, Malaysia, a centuries-old tradition of worshipping the Chinese deity, Ta Shi Ye, as the “Guardian God of Ghosts” has been preserved for centuries. It is held every year in the seventh month of the lunar calendar. This month-long event is a unique part of the cultural celebration of ghost festivals in Penang and among the Chinese.
