Dancers at temple fairs are a popular culture in Taiwan in recent years. The purpose is to give thanks to the gods. In addition to the usual dance performances, there are also performances like the one pictured here on the roof of a jeep, sometimes using the steel pipes on the roof of the jeep to perform the pipe dance. However, there are many dangers involved, such as the threat of firecrackers. In this photo, a bunch of firecrackers accidentally exploded in the open space behind the dancer, making such a powerful noise that she had to cover her ears.
