A Window to The Past

  • Photographer
    Johanna Hurter

Last year I had the opportunity to photograph the paintings of a fantastic, almost forgotten impressionist/expressionist painter. This academic painter lived from the German empire into the 1960ties. He photographed his daughter, whom he painted after this photo of her, his wife and nephew. The loving family gave strength and support through difficult times. I integrated the painting in his photo and both in my photo. The tree is a more than 300 years old oak tree in Stuttgart, not far from the place where the daughter lived

She uses photographic techniques, long term exposure, panorama technique and others, to interpret her subject. Nature, wind and weather help shape the images. Her images were awarded in international competitions.
