This is an important celebration in Taiwan and is known as the “Beigang Yi-Ge”. Every year during the Mazu celebration in Beigang, dozens of beautifully decorated vehicles carrying many men, women, and children, dressed in a wide variety of beautiful costumes, parade along the streets with the caravan. Along the way, many items are thrown, such as toys, fruits and vegetables, dolls, and even seafood, and crowds of people standing along the way raise their hands or even baskets to catch the thrown items in a joyful manner.
