I have spent the year photographing native trees in the Napa Valley of Northern California. This series is entitled "Burning Trees." I woke up on September 10, 2020 intending to take my dog for a walk when the sun came up. It never did. The LNU Lightning Complex Fires were raging throughout Napa, Sonoma, Lake, and Solano Counties. Heavy smoke blocked the sunlight, and the sky remained dark orange all day. I found the trees to be especially beautiful under the orange skies, but it also brought home the issue of global climate change and how much humanity stands to lose if we don't stop it.
