A musician only feels good when he joins his instrument... but before playing, he has to re-tame it each time (as if it were the first time). Here, the pianist seems to be trying to soothe his instrument so that the two become one, offering themselves completely to each other, in order to produce the most symbiotic music possible... I chose for this series an intimate atmosphere, taken with a short focal length, very close to the subject. The same ratio is respected for each photograph for homogeneity.
Samuel Mélia was born in France, starting with studies in jazz music (saxophone), he then turned to photography. Samuel appreciates photographs of different genres, so he enjoys the work of Andreas Gursky as much as Annie Leibovitz, Saul Leiter or Sebastião Salgado.
