Thomas, a happy 8 year old boy, was earlier this year diagnosed with a very rare (affecting approximately 2 in 1,000,000 people) and serious condition called Aplastic Anaemia. This means that Thomas has bone marrow failure. He has undertaken numerous hospital visits and requires at least twice weekly blood and platelet transfusions. He has had blood taken numerous times and on the 19th June he had a Hickman line put it. In July he had the Horse ATG treatment. After this treatment Thomas received steroids which have altered his appearance dramatically in just a few weeks.
