Ukrainian refugees wait under the snow to be transported to a shelter after arriving in Poland and fleeing the war with Russia in Ukraine in Medyka, Poland on March 4, 2022. The refugee crisis is expected to get worse as the war escalates in Ukraine and at least 5 millions people are expected to leave the country in the next weeks.

Davide Bonaldo is a freelance documentary and travel photographer currently based in Barcelona, Spain. His main focus is social documentary photography , while also focusing in more intimate, personal stories. While being a mostly self taught photographer, he has attended an advanced course in Photoreportage at Officine Fotografiche school in Rome, Italy, where he has also exhibited his work, and Fuga-Escola de Fotografia in Barcelona, Spain. He also collaborates with different NGOs.
