Serra da Estrela, UNESCO World Geopark. The fire was the biggest in the last four years - consumed more than 26,000 hectares and represented 3.7% of the area burned in the EU this year. Climate change is one of the great issues of today. Weather events, which are increasingly extreme, are shaking national economies and affecting lives. It is urgent to manage forests sustainably. The 2.7ºC temperature increase by the end of the century demands immediate action from everyone. It may be a long road, but is humanity prepared to take it?
