In the past, there were prostitutes called "Oiran" in Japan. Most of them were women who were sold from poor families. Oiran also needed to be educated, and prospective oiran were thoroughly trained from childhood in the classics, calligraphy, tea ceremony, waka, koto, shamisen, and other arts.This picture represents one morning when the oiran heard a voice from heaven.
