The book focuses on the evolution of beauty ideals over the last 100 years in the context of the history of cosmetics. Make-up and beauty care are not only an expression of individual preferences, but also of the influence of art, culture and special events on the respective Zeitgeist. In addition to the historical development, the book consists of a number of beauty editorials inspired by this development and takes a look at beauty through the ages. The book was not published by a publisher, but was created as part of my master's thesis at the University of Dortmund.
I am an emerging German photographer based in Düsseldorf, specialising in beauty photography. After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein with a degree in Communication Design, I founded my own scouting agency and worked for three years with a large network of well-known model agencies to place new face models worldwide. The lack of time to pursue my true passion, photography, led to a change of direction. After gaining experience as an assistant in London, I now work as a freelance photographer and am about to finish my Masters in Photographic Studies.
