Tomohide Ikeya The work beautifully captures a miraculous moment in nature. The special phenomenon of the freezing of Lake Balaton, which has become rare due to climate change, is expressed from an original point of view. The shattered fragments of ice, which are strewn across the lakeshore like countless shards of glass, are filled with a fantastic beauty. The documentary value of the film is also highly appreciated, as it documents a winter landscape that is being lost due to environmental change. It is an impressive piece of artistry and timelessness.

It is becoming increasingly rare in Hungary for the winter to be so cold that our lake, Lake Balaton, freezes over! This January, however, the water surface of the lake froze over due to the persistent cold. However, stormy windy weather came a few days later, which broke up the ice and swept it to the shore, where it looked like a million shiny glass plates had been blown out by the wind. Sometimes you felt like you were on the planet Krypton. The ice shimmered in the sunset and the blue sky. The swans resting on the lake made the view even more exciting from a bird's eye view.

I work as a graduate art director and graphic artist in Budapest, Hungary. I started photography because of my love for art and nature. I love mountains, sunrises and everything that is related to nature. In my free time, I go out into nature as much as I can and photograph special moments.
