Flash Floods Affects Southern Poland

Poland and neighbouring countries experienced widespread flooding after heavy rains swept the region during Storm Boris in September 2024. The southern part of the country saw fully destroyed villages as the water retention dam broke, and the recovery process is expected to take years.

Omar Marques is a Portuguese awarded freelance photojournalist from northwest Portugal based in Krakow, Poland. He works as a stringer for Getty Images, Anadolu Agency and collaborates with magazines on editorial and commercial assignments between Central/Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
